K evin Pinto is a legend of sorts — at least, in the minds of frequent fliers of Delta Air Lines, where he had worked for many years — and a request was sent by an employee of Delta Air Lines that it would be uplifting to Kevin if he received birthday cards “from all over.”
Who better than to fulfill that request than frequent fliers who travel all over the world?
Kevin officially retired from Delta Air Lines on December 31, 2012 as a result of being offered an “early-out package” which he could not refuse and — for what it is worth — I do not blame him one bit for retiring, to be frank. In his most recent job capacity prior to his retirement, he handled the worldwide marketing communications, programs and recognition for the airline.
As I first mentioned in this article posted on December 12, 2012, Kevin is the type of person who ensured superior customer satisfaction from his hard work; and the results were usually evident within an hour — yes, within an hour — from when a request by a customer of Delta Air Lines was first placed.
As one of the dozens of Delta Air Lines employees who volunteered his time at The 2010 Second Annual Delta Air Lines FlyerTalk Event, Kevin assisted FlyerTalk members by personally directing them to follow him to their assigned flight simulators for each of them to receive time in being a “pilot.” With many different flight simulators located in different buildings at the world headquarters of Delta Air Lines — and with 80 FlyerTalk members awaiting their turn at this memorable opportunity to pilot a real flight simulator where time was a critical factor — Kevin ensured that everyone received their turn.
Many frequent fliers — including myself — were amazed at his efforts and really appreciated all that he had done…
…so much so, in fact, that not only has Kevin Pinto been referred to as “he who walks on water”; but also a retirement celebration occurred in his honor at the Delta Heritage Museum — now known as the Delta Flight Museum after its renovation — in Atlanta on March 18, 2013.
