Note: Nine years ago today, Delta Air Lines formally emerged from bankruptcy protection; and this article is the tenth of a series of articles which I first wrote nine years ago today.
…i s an expression which Randy Petersen of FlyerTalk and InsideFlyer magazine likes to use often, and it was certainly apropos here. Although there was a dinner for the international journalists later on Monday, April 30, 2007, it was time for me to go home. The shuttle bus brought us back to the Renaissance hotel, where I said “goodbye” to some new-found friends. I have a “goodie bag” that held the materials from the official Delta Air Lines media kit.
I endured some traffic on my way home on what is now a hot, sunny, clear day — but I reflected on what a great day it was for Delta Air Lines, its employees, its customers…
…and for me.
I arrived home and prepared for Delta Air Lines flight 9998 from Atlanta to Salt Lake City to Los Angeles for the next day, Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
Needless to say, I did not sleep much that evening.

That wraps up the first day of the events commemorating the emergence of Delta Air Lines from bankruptcy protection nine years ago today. I have plenty of additional photographs which document that day visually; and I am considering sharing them in a future article.
