Y ou may now redeem SkyMiles for premium drinks in Sky Club lounges operated by Delta Air Lines if you are a member of the SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program 21 years of age or older, according to reports posted by various members of FlyerTalk.
SkyMiles Redemption Cost
There are conflicting reports — neither of which have yet been confirmed — where 100 SkyMiles is equivalent to either one dollar or eight dollars towards the purchase of a premium beverage.
Posting that you can buy 2,000 SkyMiles for $70.00 or $0.035 per mile and based on the presumption that 100 SkyMiles is equivalent to one dollar when purchasing a premium beverage, FlyerTalk member DLERT deduced that the cost of the premium beverage is $3.50. “Seems like a fair exchange to me – OR DOES IT ???” posted DLERT. “Got to be desperate for a drink that should have been free with club membership !”
That last sentence is likely a reference to when changes in the selection of both complimentary and for-purchase premium alcoholic beverages became effective in Sky Club airport lounges as of Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Summary
This option was first available at the Sky Club at San Francisco International Airport but has since become available at other airports.
Assuming that this offer is available at all SkyClub airport lounges, redeeming SkyMiles to purchase premium alcoholic beverages is at least another option available to patrons of Sky Clubs who are also members of the SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program…
…but as for me, I do not drink alcoholic beverages and therefore know nothing about about them; so I will not be taking advantage of this option…
