We were unexpected escorted up a spiral staircase — that is otherwise blocked off with a large vase — to an upstairs patio at Royal Palm Galapagos, Curio Collection Hotel by Hilton to see a clear view of a starry night in the Galápagos Islands.

Clear skies seem to be rather unusual in the highlands region of Santa Cruz Island, which is typically enshrouded in clouds and fog due to its altitude…
…so seeing a clear sky filled with stars one night was a fortunate treat.
I did not have a tripod to steady the device which I used to photograph the night sky.

Trivia time: Despite the location of Santa Cruz Island being just south of the equator, the constellation known as the Southern Cross was just below the horizon on that evening; so it was unfortunately not visible in the sky. A photograph with the Southern Cross can be seen in this article pertaining to viewing the night sky in the Outback of Australia.
