The introduction of elite choice rewards was revealed in this official press release from American Airlines, from which members of the AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program who have earned Platinum Pro elite status and Executive Platinum elite status will have a choice of options which they value the most from a curated menu to reward themselves as thanks for their continued loyalty.
AAdvantage Elite Choice Rewards Revealed; Emerald oneworld Elite Status For Platinum Pro
Members of the American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program who have earned Platinum Pro can choose one of the following options:
- One systemwide upgrade
- 20,000 AAdvantage bonus miles — or 25,000 bonus miles for AAdvantage credit card holders
- One-time 15 percent off award discount
- Carbon emissions offset
- $200.00 donation to one of ten partner charities
- Six Admirals Club one-day passes
- $200.00 American Airlines travel voucher
Members of the American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program who have earned Executive Platinum can choose two of the following options:
- Two systemwide upgrades
- 25,000 AAdvantage bonus miles — or 30,000 bonus miles for AAdvantage credit card holders
- Carbon emissions offset
- $200.00 donation to one of ten partner charities
- Gift of Gold elite level status
- $200.00 American Airlines travel voucher
- Individual Admirals Club membership — requires two choices
- 10,000 bonus Elite Qualifying Miles — can only be selected once
- Choice of Bang & Olufsen products
Eligible members will receive an e-mail message with an invitation to select their reward upon qualifying for the Platinum Pro elite tier and Executive Platinum elite tier in 2021. Members can also find and choose their rewards under the Gifts and Rewards section of their AAdvantage membership account.
Starting in early 2021, Platinum Pro members will also receive oneworld Emerald elite status with the oneworld alliance; and they will enjoy additional perks when they travel on partner airlines of the oneworld alliance — such as:
- First class priority check-in
- Access to first and business class lounges
- Fast track at select security lanes
- Higher priority for waitlists and standby
- Priority boarding
- Priority baggage handling
Summary
American Airlines continues to be a leader in offering innovative benefits to members of its AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program; but some would say that Platinum Pro members receiving oneworld Emerald elite status is simply American Airlines matching the alignment of elite status levels which was officially announced yesterday by Alaska Airlines.
