Effective as of Wednesday, August 16, 2023, all Frontier Airlines ticket counters to close one hour prior to flight departure — which means that the ticket counters will close 15 minutes sooner than when they currently close — and no official explanation has been given as for the reasons for this change in policy at the time this article was written.
All Frontier Airlines Ticket Counters To Close One Hour Prior to Flight Departure
The following message was posted to the official Twitter — er…X — account of Frontier Airlines on Tuesday, August 1, 2023:

Important info for your next flight.
Starting August 16th, all Frontier ticket counters will close for check-in and bag drop 60 minutes (previously 45 minutes) prior to your flight departure. We continue to be committed to getting you and your bags to your destination without interruption.
As expected, many of the responses were written by people who were angry or upset about this change in policy. Customers must currently check their bags between two hours prior to departure of the flight and 45 minutes prior to departure of the flight. This new policy shortens that time period from 75 minutes to only one hour.
What if you get in line 2 hours early but you’re the 258th person in line will you wait for me?

This does not mean that any passengers who are already in line for the ticket counter at one hour prior to departure of the flight will callously be shooed away. It simply means that they will not be able to enter the line for the ticket counter at one hour prior to the departure of the flight.
Frontier Airlines already eliminated customer support via telephone effective as of late November of 2022, as their former telephone number of 801-401-9000 had answered with the following recorded message:
We offer the lowest fares in the industry by operating our airlines as efficiently as possible. We want our customers to operate efficiently as well, which is why we make it easy to find what you need at FlyFrontier.com or on our mobile app. We also have a chat service.
The recorded message did not offer customers an option to speak with an agent. Frontier Airlines is currently the largest airline in the United States which offers no customer support via telephone.
Final Boarding Call
I have flown as a passenger with several flights that were operated by Frontier Airlines; and not once have I had to use a ticket counter. That is because the ultra-low-cost airline encourages customers to check in via their portable electronic devices and produce their boarding passes, which can potentially cost money at the ticket counter. Furthermore, I never check baggage.
However, I am not defending this change in policy, as I do not see it as ultimately beneficial to customers — and I am not exactly sure what purpose it will serve. I will be the first to admit that the policies of Frontier Airlines are not exactly friendly to customers; and I have had a few poor experiences — but the airline in general has either compensated me for them or has corrected the experiences after I contacted them via their social media channels. Doing so was trying at times; but I usually got what I needed accomplished satisfactorily.
I simply do not see this change in policy as such a big deal for many customers of Frontier Airlines — other than for those passengers who check baggage.
If you know what to expect and do not experience any major irregular operations, Frontier Airlines may not be the first choice for airline travel for many people — but it is certainly a viable option.
