Effective as of yesterday, Monday, January 10, 2022, the fees for delivery of a passport book within one day or two days increased from $17.56 to $18.32 — which is a difference of 76 cents and comes only two weeks after the fees for a passport book increased by $20.00 due to an increase in the security surcharge component of the application for a passport.
Another Passport Fee Increase January 2022 — But This One is Optional and Only 76 Cents
The Department of State of the United States generally sets consular fees at an amount calculated to recover the costs to the federal government of the United States of providing the consular service.
No official announcement or statement from the Department of State of the United States pertaining to this latest fee increase of the delivery of a passport book within one day or two days was found at the time this article was written.

I am not sure why the fee to deliver a passport book within one day or two days increased — and by only 76 cents, at that — but I can only surmise that the cost of shipping must have increased.
