In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article is the thirtieth of a series to do just that — along with links to the aforementioned articles…
Answers to Past Articles — Part 30: Time for Open Cross Pool With Hampton Comfort
…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.
The Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 146
In a parking lot near the international airport which serves the greater Atlanta metropolitan area is a van which belongs to a Hampton Inn which is located nowhere near the airport — and it is parked in a parking lot for a Comfort Inn near the airport.
Favorite answer by derek: “The wrong thing is that the van has Firestone Transforce tires on the right front but possibly not on the right rear.
“The odd thing is that a Hampton Inn courtesy van is presumably used for a Comfort Inn. Having two brands share a shuttle is common but they will often have both logos or have a plain van with signage on the window.”
Favorite comment by Thomas Richard Potter.: “not to mention the fact that the right front is missing its hubcap”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 147
The annual registration of my motor vehicle had to be renewed; so as I stood on a short line at the local motor vehicle department, I turned around and noticed what appeared to be three windows which were clearly closed but had signs which have the word OPEN over them. The signs actually illuminate when the windows are open to customers — and they were not illuminated at the time this photograph was taken.
Favorite answer by Firstlast: “Photo part 147:Signs above windows say “Open” None of the windows appear open.”
Favorite comment by Mark Dumic: “The leftmost window looks like a tight squeeze.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 148
This area has everything that is compliant for pedestrians to safely cross a busy highway — including a traffic signal and a textured area embedded in concrete on the ground for people whose vision is impaired — but the problem is that once anyone is on this side of the street, there is no sidewalk on either side and no safe place to go. In fact, there is nowhere to go that is even near this spot.
What is the point of having this?!?
Favorite answer by DaninMCI: “Sidewalk to nowhere it seems. Also, how are people coming from the other direction supposed to see the sign?”
Favorite comment by Susan: “Besides the walkway the tree branches are all covering the wires. Which is dangerous.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 149
The weather keeps getting warmer as the season turns from spring to summer; and one of the more refreshing ways to beat the heat is to be in a swimming pool — but imagine that you think you have access to a swimming pool; and when you arrive, the gate was closed and locked…
…and to add insult to injury, a paper sign claims in red letters that “Pool Temporally Close!!!! Please do not enter!”
Was the swimming pool meant to be temporally far away — or was it too worldly for that?
Favorite answer by Brandon Smith: “Poor spelling, I assume the intent was to indicate the pool was Temporarily Closed.”
Favorite comment by Bill G: “That’s strange, it was open when I was there next week.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 150
The advent of tablets, mobile telephones, and other portable electronic devices have generally rendered wake-up calls from the front desk in hotel and resort properties and alarm clocks which are found in rooms useless — and perhaps the time has arrived where that may be a good thing, as indicated by one particular digital alarm clock which I found recently in a hotel room shortly after checking in to the hotel property.
Has the time not also yet come when someone who is employed by the hotel property to have awoken and had this defective digital alarm clock replaced?
By the way, I have no idea as to verify the actual time of this clock, as the time stamp on this photograph did not match any variation of time on the alarm clock — but I can indeed verify that the time of day was not in the morning.
Favorite answer by derek: “Nothing is wrong. It’s 8:39 pm. 😛
”Ok, some of the pixels are not working.”
Favorite comment by Bill G: “It’s an encoded message to someone in housekeeping who in reality is a spy. I can’t say more or they’ll come after me.”
