In past articles in which your participation was not only requested but also helpful and humorous, I did not give the answers to questions which I have posed to you; so this article contains the answers to past articles — Part 47 — along with links to the aforementioned articles…
Answers to Past Articles — Part 47: Cracker Jack Irrelavant Pumkin Englington SSANDWICH.
…and the links are embedded in the titles of each section as well as within the sections themselves; so please click on the links in each section to take you to the original article.
The Favorite Answer will usually be the correct answer by a reader of The Gate With Brian Cohen — along with a Favorite Comment from the same article which I found to be funny or informative.
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 231
Somebody at this supermarket did a Cracker Jack job at labeling this display of bags of Cracker Jill as Cracker Jack.
How chauvinistic.
The comma after the word PEANUTS and the words THE ORIGINAL did not help matters.
Favorite answer by rmah: “of course people will talk about fetching a pail of water and breaking crowns and such, but the grammar guru in me asks why is there a comma after the s in peanuts on the price plaque? but all that really matters…is there a prize inside and is it a treasured tattoo?”
Favorite comment by whocares: “People fear what they don’t say out loud. So go ahead, and say this out loud. And the meditate — why do I fear this word? any word? where do my thoughts come from?
“Cracker Faggot.
“That’s what the world needs.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 232
Incorrectly spelling the word irrelavant is apparently irrelevant in a crossword puzzle by the American Association of Retired Persons, which is more popularly known as AARP.
Favorite answer by Jim: “66 across should read ‘irrelevant.’”
Favorite comment by Jim F.: “Synonym for ‘irrelavant’? How about ‘immeterial’ or ‘extraineus’?”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 233
An extra S is sandwiched in the name GRILLED OR FRIED CHICKEN SSANDWICH on the menu in a restaurant.
Favorite answer and comment by derek: “The fried chicken sandwich is not a burger despite being in the burger section of the menu. It also might be on the menu to attract the Nazi crowd. It is not a sandwich but a SS sandwich. The SS (Schutzstaffel) was an elite German organization during the Nazi era.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 234
As I was booking domestic flights within Australia with Jetstar Airways, I took a cursory look at some of the food items that were offered for purchase on the menu — which some people might claim that in and of itself is what is wrong with this screen shot — and found that the Homestyle Sandwich Duo contains pumkin seed.
Is that how the word pumpkin is spelled in Australia?
Favorite answer and comment by Jim: “Should be PUMPKIN seed.”
What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 235
In addition to the breathtaking views at Te Anau Lions Lookout on the South Island of New Zealand is a metal direction dial on a stone plinth with the names of places pointing to where they are located — but which is the correct spelling that is permanently engraved on the right side of the dial: EGLINTON VALLEY or MOUNT EGLINGTON?
Favorite answer by Jim F.: “Eglinton or Eglington…someone got too zealous and added a ‘g’ where it doesn’t belong.”
Favorite comment by derek: “What is odd is that the device resembles a sundial but the flat part suggests there should be a pointer.”
