Imagine being able to choose a Panamera to attend a corporate meeting — only to decide to switch out to a Boxster for your date tonight and a 911 Carrera for that road trip tomorrow, practically flying down that open highway…
…and not only do you execute your choices through your portable electronic device; but each vehicle is cleaned by a personal concierge and delivered to you at home or at work — swapped out with the vehicle you currently have, with the contents of the current vehicle transferred to the new vehicle.
Any Porsche You Want Any Time You Want for $100 Per Day — But…
Porsche Cars North America, Incorporated has an interesting program called Porsche Passport, through which you can experience the fleet of the latest models of Porsche cars for one monthly fee, which includes everything except fuel — from comprehensive insurance of one million dollars for liability to maintenance and repairs to full detail washes to roadside assistance…
…but as the headquarters of Porsche Cars North America, Incorporated is located in Atlanta, it is only currently available in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.
Simply use the official mobile application software program of Porsche Passport to select the vehicle you want to have delivered to your home or office. You can switch vehicles as often as you like; and each vehicle includes unlimited mileage.
You have two membership plans from which to choose:
- Launch gives you access to four different models of Porsche vehicles for $2,000.00 per month; or as low as $64.52 per day
- Accelerate gives you access to seven different models of Porsche vehicles for $3,000.00 per month; or as low as $96.78 per day
Disadvantages to Porsche Passport
Aside from the cost per month for this program — which would understandably be out of the budget range for many people — both membership plans require a one-time activation fee of $500.00, and you are required to commit to either membership plan for a minimum of 31 days.
The insurance has a deductible of $1,000.00 — meaning that if anything happens, you are responsible for paying the first $1,000.00 on any claim.
Of course, not everyone will be approved for the Porsche Passport program.
The service area is the most significant limitation, as Porsche Passport is only available in a defined part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area.
Summary
Think of it as a replacement for purchasing or leasing a car, and Porsche Passport can be considered rather expensive; but when you think of it as renting vehicles for the long term, the cost seems far more reasonable.
Porsche vehicles are nice; but they do not particularly impress me in general…
…although I did have the opportunity to ride in one several years ago around the international airport which serves the greater Atlanta metropolitan area courtesy of Delta Air Lines, which I intend to report in a future article.
I like the overall idea of the Porsche Passport program. Not only would I like to see this program expanded to more locations — if that were at all possible — but to also see other manufacturers implement a similar program if they do not already have an existing program.
Think about it: if you had access to a program such as Porsche Passport, would you drive more often instead of flying as a passenger aboard airplanes and dealing with all of the stress associated with that?
