Breaking News: Government Shutdown 2025 Ends

Now maybe air travel will get back to normal in the United States in time for Thanksgiving.

The shutdown of the federal government of the United States has concluded moments ago tonight on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Day 43, as after members of the House of Representatives voted 222 to 209, the president of the United States signed into law a spending package.

60 out of 100 members of the Senate of the United States voted on Sunday, November 9, 2025 to advance a temporary funding bill to reopen the government and reinstate federal workers who were laid off with back pay. The government will be funded through Friday, January 30, 2026. The compromise between Democrats and Republicans comes after weeks of gridlock that has affected air traffic — among other products and services of the federal government.

The steep reduction of flights was ordered in a directive by Sean Duffy — who is the current secretary of transportation of the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States — because of risks with air traffic control safety risks from the current government shutdown. The reduction of capacity purportedly keeps airspaces around the country maintained while simultaneously relieving some pressure on as many as 13,000 air traffic controllers, who have been forced to work without pay.

Final Boarding Call

Now that the shutdown of the federal government of the United States has ended, commercial aviation throughout the country will return to normal — hopefully as soon as possible — and just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday season…

  1. According to Trumpublican Nancy Mace, the “deep state” — despite it being the Trump-Vance regime — was after her with secondary screenings at airports during the government shutdown. Hopefully someone gets her some desperately needed help, as her issues won’t be resolved just because a government “reopening” after the shutdown may speed up some DHS/TSA redress requests/applications. If she were blacklisted by the “shallow state” FlyerTalk moderators having a Moderator Do to discuss IB/FT facility users in the IB conference room and elsewhere over the weekend, she would have more credibility than she has with her moping about the TSA’s treatment of her during the government shutdown.

[If people want to get a free ride from the airport to get within short(er) walking distance of the FT Moderator Do, nearby hotel shuttle buses are an option.]

    1. @GUWonder
What the Hell does FT have to do with anything here? And are you suggesting readers stalk FT moderators?

      1. if you are interested in the subject and not been confirmed as an invitee for physical attendance to the FT Moderator Do this time, you can ask around for the link to see it online or check it out with someone who has the link. The online show starts around noon DC time.

      2. Who stalking whom, where and when? The big part is already “mission accomplished” and was done by some moderators and attempted even with some help of IB. And the DO is already a fait accompli.

This is indirectly suggesting people should stalk moderators from that site. Man, you play stupid. You’d fit right in with the current administration.

  3. @GUWonder Can you or anyone you know send me the link via the dw channel that IBJoel sent around to see the Mod Do online or mirror it? Thank you for your attention.

    1. The meeting was already done before today. So not sure what you want to see, Phantom.

IBJoel is frustrated with IB and doesn’t want to work weekends as he’s unhappy with his employer IB and has been for at least 2-3 years.
