Breaking News: Reports of Shots Fired at International Airport in New York
Another shooting was apparently reported at Terminal 1 of the same airport, which supposedly caused a panic amongst the people in that terminal.
“Preliminary investigation does not indicate shots were fired at JFK. There are no injuries. At this time, no gun shells or other evidence of shots fired has been found,” Scott Ladd of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said, according to this report by Alyssa Zauderer of WPIX-TV Channel 11 News in New York. “The terminal was evacuated out of an abundance of caution. Travelers should contact their carriers. There is substantial PAPD and NYPD presence at JFK and LGA. The investigation continues.”
A bomb squad was reportedly deployed due to a suspicious package or suitcase of some type. There is no word as to the results of what the bomb squad found.
Flights are reportedly being diverted; the streets around the airport are currently closed; and there are no suspects at this time. According to this report by John Annese of the New York Daily News, the gates to one security checkpoint were being closed.
