I f you have not had enough of going through security checkpoints at airports to be screened, here is your chance to own this wonderful technology and install it in your own home — just in time for the holiday season.
Yes, folks: for the low, low bargain basement price of only $7,995.00, you too can be the proud owner of a Rapiscan Secure 1000 SP (Single Pose) Backscatter Body Scanner X-Ray machine, which supposedly normally costs $113,000.00 new.
That is a savings of $105,000.00! Such a deal!!! Why has Deals We Like not reported this amazing savings of almost 93 percent off of that supposed original list price?!?
Each system comes in three large crates; and if you need more than one, just let the seller know!
However, there is a catch: there is no free shipping. In fact, there is no shipping at all. You must pick up the items in Chattanooga, Tennessee — which is a place I would seriously recommend for a vacation, as there is plenty to do there.
By the way, transportation to and from Chattanooga is not included in the purchase price. However, you can use your credit card to earn a boatload of frequent travel loyalty program miles or points; or get cold hard cash from your cash rebate credit card.
Actually, there is a second catch: the scanner system must be purchased “as is” as part of the description shown below:
Comprehensive Threat Detection
The Secure 1000 SP combines unparalleled threat detection with optimized throughput.
The Secure 1000 SP uses backscatter technology as well as Rapiscan proprietary image processing software and an operator-friendly interface to rapidly and comprehensively screen passengers for a wide range of potential threats including liquids, contraband, ceramics, explosives, narcotics, concealed currency and weapons.
Highlights
US TSA Qualification: The US TSA has tested, evaluated and qualified the Secure 1000 SP in aviation checkpoints. The Secure 1000 SP complies with U.S. and international health, safety and privacy requirements.
Front and Back Scanning for Comprehensive Threat Detection: The Secure 1000 SP generates a front and back scan simultaneously, which eliminates blind spots and potential opportunities for concealment, thereby increasing checkpoint security.
Advanced Imaging Detects Range of Threats: The Secure 1000 SP can detect small objects and threats concealed on a passenger. It can detect organic and inorganic threats, metals and non-metallic objects. With one system, customers can detect concealed liquids, ceramics, weapons, plastic explosives, narcotics, metals, contraband, currency etc.
Single Pose Configuration Streamlines Checkpoint Operations: Because the Secure 1000 SP requires only one pose with no additional movement by the passenger, a full scan can be completed in seconds, thereby streamlining checkpoint operations and improving passenger satisfaction.
Technology Overview: How Does a Secure 1000 Work?
The Secure 1000 bounces very low dose of x-rays off of a person to generate an image. This image is then analyzed by an operator to identify concealed potential threats.

There is yet another catch: the seller does not offer returns.
As first reported at The Gate on January 18, 2013, the 250 full-body scanners which used X-ray backscatter technology to screen passengers have been removed from airport security checkpoints in the United States — successfully having met a deadline of June 1, 2013 — at the expense of the manufacturer, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
Rapiscan — the manufacturer of the controversial full-body scanners which gained notoriety for producing images of passengers considered by many to be too revealing — reportedly failed to produce a software upgrade by the deadline of June 2013 to prevent the scanner from projecting naked images of passengers similar to the ones shown below.
The failure of the completion of a software upgrade by the deadline led to the contract of Rapiscan — a division of OSI Systems, Incorporated based in Hawthorne, California — to be canceled by the Transportation Security Administration…
…which means that some of these systems which were taken out of service had to go somewhere. Why not to where you are based? Have a party and scan your friends — and see who can strike the most stupid pose similar to the ones in the image above! Impress your significant other and have a “pat-down” session with each other! Here is your chance to be truly radiant after multiple uses! The possibilities are endless!
Now it is your turn to have some fun: what would you do with your very own full-body backscatter scanner?
