Do you dread all of the preparation which is required for a memorable Christmas feast? Have you been tasked to bring something of a liquid nature through an airport security checkpoint and aboard an airplane for a loved one who is far away? Do you long for all of the courses of a holiday dinner — from soup to nuts to dessert; and perhaps even breakfast — but you are dining solo this year?
Christmas Dinner…In a Can
Do not fear — your answer is here…
…or — at least — the answer used to be available.
Christmas dinner…in a can.
In an interesting take on an MRE — that is, a meal ready to eat, on which active members of the military dine — this British company had created Christmas dinner in a can with which no microwave oven or kettle is needed in order to heat up the meal. Simply — or, perhaps, not so simply — follow the instructions on the can in order for the water pouch in the can to mix with lime to activate the heating process.

Even though the company offers six varieties of what is known as the Hot Can — which includes Tortellini Bolognaise and Chicken Curry — the Christmas dinner variety no longer seems to be available.
Meanwhile, a retailer called Game reported released a limited supply of cans of Christmas Tinner back in 2013 — although this is believed by some people to have been an elaborate hoax.
The supposed purpose for this gastronomic degustation was that it was produced and marketed to people who were too busy playing video games to spend time preparing an elaborate holiday feast. They could concentrate on the game while simultaneously eating their Christmas dinner straight out of the can in the proper order of courses — including breakfast.
Nine layers of different courses in the can included, from top to bottom:
- Scrambled eggs and bacon
- Two mince pies
- Turkey and potatoes
- Gravy
- Bread sauce
- Cranberry sauce
- Either brussels sprouts with stuffing or broccoli with stuffing
- Roast carrots and parsnips
- Christmas pudding
Summary
These are arguably the most appetizing products since the cheeseburger in a can, about which I wrote in this article back on Thursday, July 7, 2016…
…and you can wash these down with powdered wine — just add water — if you are so inclined.
As for me — well — if these two products still existed, I would sit this one out…
