Parking the motor vehicle that I rented was almost impossible to do when I saw the Clock Tower in Podgorica in Montenegro on that rainy early November morning; so I did not get to photograph the actual face of the clock.

The clock tower — which is called Сат кула or Sahat Kula in Montenegrin — was constructed in 1667. It is one of the very few Ottoman landmarks which survived the bombing of Podgorica during World War II. A metal cross which symbolizes the transfer of the city of Podgorica from the Ottomans into the hands of the Christian people of Montenegro was installed at the top of the clock tower during the late nineteenth century.

The clock tower is located at Bećir Beg Osmanagić square in the Stara Varoš neighborhood of Podgorica. No admission is charged to visit the clock tower; and the site is never closed to anyone who wants to visit it. As was previously mentioned in this article, parking a motor vehicle near the clock tower is difficult to do; so plan accordingly.
