Wait a minute — 15 stripes?!?

Photographs of the American flag in 2026 is the topic of this article, as yesterday, Saturday, July 4, 2026 was 250 years since the United States of America was officially founded.

Whether it is on display at the state capitol of North Dakota, America’s First Mile in Maine, or at Niagara Falls alongside the official state flag of New York, the Stars and Stripes lends a majestic glory to wherever it freely waves.

Final Boarding Call

Trivia time: When Kentucky and Vermont officially became the newest states in the United States on Monday, January 13, 1794, the flag sported 15 stripes instead of 13 stripes. Greater than 24 years later, the third Flag Act of Saturday, April 4, 1818 reduced the number of stripes back to 13 and provided for one star for each state.
