I was in the mood for good Italian food and found out that daVinci’s in Hailey in Idaho was not only highly rated; but it had also been established at its location since Wednesday, July 24, 1996 in a “cozy cottage” that is at least 100 years old.
daVinci’s in Hailey in Idaho. Restaurant Review.
The building has previously been home to everything from a flop house to a free store to multiple restaurants.
The wait to get a table was approximately 45 minutes, as the building is small and the restaurant is popular. I saw many people walk in to pick up their orders and take them out. In the above photograph is the stand for the host. The entrance to the building from outside is on the left; and the entrance into the dining area is on the right.
We were seated at our table, which was adorned with a vase containing flowers and a glass with a small lit candle in it. Water in a carafe was also available on the table for anyone who was immediately thirsty.
The House Salad was included with the meals that were ordered and was “bottomless”, which meant that refills of the bowl could be ordered as many times as we wanted. The bowl of salad was shared by everyone at the table. Ingredients of the House Salad included romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperoncinis, and croutons with balsamic vinaigrette.
Freshly baked Tuscan bread with individually wrapped pats of butter was also included with our meals and served warm.
The Roman was one specialty of the restaurant. Bay scallops and shrimp was served on a bed of spinach linguine in spicy red clam sauce. $25.99
Spinach linguini was ordered with shrimp in a white clam sauce. $19.99 plus $2.99 for the shrimp: $22.98
Another specialty of the house was the Mona Lisa — which comprised of angel hair pasta, yellow squash, zucchini, onions and mushrooms in Tuscan tomato sauce. $21.99
“We keep our prices reasonable, include a delicious salad and bread with every entrée, and ensure that no one leaves hungry.” That statement is absolutely accurate.
Final Boarding Call
If you find yourself in Hailey in Idaho, I recommend dining at daVinci’s. The quality of the food was very good to excellent; the service was very good; the ambiance was stylish yet cozy; and the prices offered reasonably good value for the money. If the pasta was freshly made in the restaurant instead of dry pasta being used, the dishes would have been outstanding.
I do not remember what was the total cost of the meal that was highlighted in this article; but when I find out, I will update this article accordingly.
