D elta Air Lines once again is offering for you to elevate your 2017 Medallion elite level status in the SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program by giving you the opportunity to purchase Medallion Qualification Miles during the month of December starting today through Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:59 in the evening Central Standard Time, as has been traditionally done in years past…
…but Delta Air Lines will not allow me to purchase Medallion Qualification Miles — not that I would want to do so anyway — so in order to find out just how much those Medallion Qualification Miles would cost, I resorted to viewing this discussion which was posted on FlyerTalk.
Different Offers to Different SkyMiles Members
As in the past, different offers exist for different SkyMiles members. Here are three examples…
The daughter of FlyerTalk member jackplum received the lowest offer thus far in the discussion with the following amounts…
1,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and three Medallion Qualification Segments = $195.00
2,500 Medallion Qualification Miles and six Medallion Qualification Segments = $495.00
5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and nine Medallion Qualification Segments = $695.00
7.500 Medallion Qualification Miles and 12 Medallion Qualification Segments = $895.00
10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and 15 Medallion Qualification Segments = $1,095.00
…and jackplum himself received this offer:

2,500 Medallion Qualification Miles and six Medallion Qualification Segments = $795.00
5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and nine Medallion Qualification Segments = $995.00

FlyerTalk member gooselee — as well as other FlyerTalk members — received this offer:

2,500 Medallion Qualification Miles and six Medallion Qualification Segments = $2,195.00
5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and nine Medallion Qualification Segments = $2,495.00
7.500 Medallion Qualification Miles and 12 Medallion Qualification Segments = $2,795.00

Minimum and Maximum Transaction Amounts and Purchases
You must purchase the minimum transaction amount of 1,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and three Medallion Qualification Segments per transaction, which will count toward qualifications for SkyMiles Medallion elite level status and Million Miler status; but they will not count toward your available SkyMiles mileage balance.
You may not purchase more than 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and 15 Medallion Qualification Segments for posting to your own SkyMiles account for the 2017 Medallion year. Purchased Medallion Qualification Miles and Medallion Qualification Segments and credited Medallion Qualification Dollars cannot be gifted or transferred between SkyMiles accounts.
Once your credit card is charged, fees assessed for the bundle purchased under the Elevate Your Status Program cannot be refunded and will count toward your balance of Medallion Qualification Dollars. Medallion Qualification Miles and Medallion Qualification Segments purchased through the Elevate Your Status program will only be deposited toward your balance for 2016. Dollars spent on the purchase of a bundle will be deposited toward your 2016 Medallion Qualification Dollar balance.
All Elevate Your Status transactions are final. Once a transaction is complete the Medallion Qualification Miles, Medallion Qualification Segments and Medallion Qualification Dollars will not be reversed under any circumstance.
Medallion Qualification Miles purchased through the Elevate Your Status Program may count as rollover Medallion Qualification Miles. Medallion Qualification Dollars do not roll over. Any Medallion Qualification Miles earned in excess your Medallion elite qualification level at the end of the year will automatically roll over to your Medallion Qualification Mile balance for elite status level qualification the following year. Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles are a benefit only to SkyMiles members who have already earned Medallion elite level status.
Select Terms and Conditions
Please allow 24 hours for the Medallion Qualification Miles, Medallion Qualification Segments and Medallion Qualification Dollars purchased under the Elevate Your Status Program to be posted to your SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program account. If applicable, Medallion elite level status and Million Miler status will be updated within 24 hours of purchasing an Elevate Your Status bundle.
Elevate Your Status bundles may only be received into SkyMiles accounts which have been established for at least ten days and have earned at least one SkyMile since enrollment in the SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program.
Members that qualify for Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles must also earn the minimum amount of Medallion Qualification Dollars needed to qualify for Medallion elite level status.
This offer is valid for one SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program account; merged SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program accounts cannot exceed a maximum of 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and 15 Medallion Qualification Segments.
The Medallion Qualification Dollar requirement for Medallion elite level status applies only to SkyMiles members with a primary residence in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.
Prices subject to change at any time without notice.
Summary
The purpose of this offer is to provide you with a way to elevate your elite level status towards reaching Diamond, Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion elite level status for 2017 if you need a little help to push your account over the threshold to reach it.
Although premium benefits of Medallion elite level status — such as unlimited complimentary upgrades, priority boarding and waived baggage fees to name a few perks — are nice to have and can be rather useful while traveling, prices for Medallion Qualification Miles towards elite level status are already quite expensive. I would advise purchasing them only if you believe that the sum of the benefits you will receive in return exceed your investment — otherwise, I do not recommend participating in this offer.
Perhaps I am the only person who thinks that to charge those kinds of prices and yet not offer the opportunity to accelerate earning Medallion elite level status to everyone who is willing to pay them seems to border on arrogance by Delta Air Lines…
