I n its greater than 40 years of existence, Saturday Night Live has had its good days and its bad days; but I personally have not watched the late-night sketch television show in years…
…but then, there has been buzz all over the Internet — at least, with those of us who travel frequently — about a particular skit from the episode which aired live on Saturday, October 10, 2015. It starred Amy Schumer — who was the guest host that evening — and it pertains to members of the flight crew giving an announcement to passengers aboard what is supposed to be a Boeing 747-400 aircraft operated by Delta Air Lines.
Here is the video, in case you are unable to see it below:
As you may know from reading The Gate, my sense of humor can get quite wacky and admittedly puerile at times — but not only was this particular sketch not funny at all to me, it was particularly disturbing, in my opinion.
I did not even crack a polite smile while watching it; but perhaps I just do not get the humor — nor do I understand why Delta Air Lines was chosen as the airline for this sketch.
At least one read of this discussion posted on FlyerTalk relieved me to know that I am not the only person who feels this way — but perhaps I am part of the minority.
What did you think of the sketch in this particular video? Did you think that it was funny?
