My continued investigation into whether or not more points are needed to redeem for Hilton Honors reward stays at a significant number of hotel and resort properties worldwide keeps getting more bizarre, as I just discovered another strange anomaly.
Do Not Select Hilton Honors Points For the Lowest Cash Room Rate?
As I was looking further into hotel properties which cost only 5,000 Hilton Honors points per night, I noticed what I consider to be a great deal at a resort property where I have stayed as a guest in the past and still have yet to write an article with a review: Hilton Hurghada Resort, whose room rate is as low as $39.00 per night — including all taxes and fees — if I pay for my stay in advance for check in on Friday, September 27, 2019 and check out on Monday, September 30, 2019…
…but that room rate — which was found at the bottom of my options — mysteriously disappears when I simply select the option to pay with points.
I would only need to redeem 5,000 Hilton Honors points per night to stay at this resort property for a reward stay; but I have to remove that option if I want to see that $39.00 room rate again.
Interestingly, the half board rate for $64.00 — which also includes breakfast and half board dinner — also mysteriously disappears.
Summary
Because I am currently researching something else for a different article and accidentally stumbled upon this anomaly, I have not yet checked to see whether or not other hotel and resort properties are affected by what appears to be a technical issue…
…but to play it safe, if you are seeking both the lowest cash room rate and the option to redeem Hilton Honors points for a reward stay, deselect the option for paying with points to ensure that you find the lowest cash room rate — at least until this anomaly is fixed.
