Donald J. Trump International Airport to Become a Reality?

Is this really necessary?!?

Donald J. Trump International Airport was voted to be the new name of an international airport in the state of Florida by its legislators — and the new name could be in effect as soon as Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Donald J. Trump International Airport to Become a Reality?

The airport that is slated to be renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport is Palm Beach International Airport…

…but the legislation must be signed into law by Ron DeSantis — who is the current governor of Florida — and must be approved by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.

A bill — which is known as SB 706 and resembles a similar bill in the state House which is known as HB 919 — leaves the names of all other airports the same but preempts the authority to rename airports to the state and not to local officials.

The Trump Organization is reported to consider trademarking the new name of the airport and then charge a licensing fee for the use of the name Donald J. Trump for the airport.

Two other airports were reported last year to have been under consideration to have their names changed in honor of the current president of the United States: Nashville International Airport in Tennessee and Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

Final Boarding Call

I have used Palm Beach International Airport literally hundreds of times. The airport does not need to be named after anybody. Renaming airports is a waste of time and money, in my opinion — especially if trademarks and licensing fees are involved, which brings this lunacy to an unnecessary level of audacity and ridiculousness.

I already have opined the reasons why I believe that airports should not be named after people in this article here at The Gate With Brian Cohen — and trademarks and licensing fees on the name are yet another reason…
