Travel allows the opportunity for magical experiences to happen that otherwise would not occur in life: stepping back in time; experiencing a birthday during the opposite season of the year; and viewing an eight hour sunset.
Eight Hour Sunset. Sunday Morning Photograph.

The first photograph was taken not long after departing from Keflavik Airport in Iceland. The sun had technically already set prior to departure.

The very last vestige of a sunset — as evidenced by the faint orange band in the darkening sky near the horizon — was about to disappear as the airplane was heading west while being prepared to land at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Final Boarding Call
Trivia time: did you know that Chicago O’Hare International Airport was named after Edward H. “Butch” O’Hare? He was a naval aviator, a lieutenant commander, and a recipient of the Medal of Honor.
