Masks or coverings for the nose and mouth are already required by most airlines and lodging companies — as well as many rental car companies — for both employees and customers; but two companies in particular have further restricted the policies pertaining to wearing them.
Face Mask Policies Further Restricted by Marriott and Delta Air Lines
In order to promote the health and safety of its communities, face coverings are now required for guests and associates in all indoor public areas of the hotel and resort properties of Marriott International, Incorporated in North America, the Caribbean and Latin America. When this policy was first introduced, Marriott International, Incorporated became the first international lodging company to require guests to wear masks or coverings for the nose and mouth — but the policy was initially limited to the public areas indoors of hotel and resort properties which are located in the United States and Canada.
Meanwhile — according to this notice at the official Internet web site of Delta Air Lines — the following text was added during this past week as an amendment to the policy of wearing masks or coverings for the nose and mouth for customers and employees of the airline: “Any mask with an exhaust valve is not approved as an acceptable face mask for customers traveling on any Delta operated flight.”
Delta Air Lines already led the airlines in the United States earlier this month by imposing stricter requirements pertaining to its policy of the wearing of masks or coverings over the nose and mouth.
Summary
Policies for masks or coverings for the nose and mouth continue to evolve at airlines, lodging companies, and other corporations within the travel industry — as well as elsewhere. Do not be surprised if other airlines and lodging companies follow the policy modifications of Delta Air Lines and Marriott International, Incorporated…
…and do not be surprised if companies within the travel industry adopt policies which either strongly recommend or outright require the wearing of goggles, face visors or shields, or some other approved form of protection for the eyes.
