The main reason to stay at a hotel or resort property is to have a comfortable place to sleep — which, of course, is usually a bed — but how the bed is prepared can significantly contribute to the degree of comfort for the guest who sleeps in it.
Facebook is Flatly Full of Sheet With This Account Warning
A bed in a typical room at a hotel or resort property usually has a sheet which covers the mattress of the bed, a comforter or duvet, and a flat sheet underneath the comforter or duvet to both “protect” the comforter or duvet from being stained by sweat and other bodily fluids of the guest and the guest from the comforter or duvet itself, which may not always be properly cleaned.
Sometimes, members of housekeeping staffs at hotel and resort properties will tuck the flat sheet so tightly underneath the mattress that the circulation of blood in the legs of guests can be cut off once they are wriggled underneath it; so the guest may need to kick the flat sheet numerous times in order to create enough room for the legs to be reasonably comfortable.
Someone had asked the following question on a private group on Facebook: “Question…Is it no longer a thing to use a flat sheet with the fitted sheet? Wondering if I should purchase just the fitted sheet or a full set?”
One person — who is both a member of that private group on Facebook and a reader of The Gate who wishes to remain anonymous — submitted the following reply: “Flat sheets strangle your legs!”
That seemingly innocent response prompted an official warning from Facebook, of which the anonymous reader provided a screen shot:
The following disclaimers which were associated with the official warning offered little explanation or comfort to the anonymous reader: “We understand that mistakes happen, so we didn’t restrict your account” and “Why did your account get a warning? A post from the last year didn’t follow our standards.”
My Own Experience With Social Media Disclaimer
I myself have some experience with the seemingly dictatorial propensities of social media: I wrote an article back on Thursday, January 14, 2021 with the title Unruly Passengers Face Up to $35,000 In Fines and 20 Years of Imprisonment: Federal Aviation Administration which quoted Steve Dickson — who is the current administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States — and also featured an official video of him…
…but when I viewed this message on Twitter which contained a link to that article…

Final Boarding Call
Thank goodness that Facebook is out there — yes, that phrase indeed intentionally has more than one meaning — to protect and save all of the flat sheets of the world from getting strangled by such horrid people who use violence in their pillow talk to advanced their fiendishly hidden blanket agendas.
I realize that social media companies do not guarantee freedom of speech nor are they required to protect it; but they do wield an inordinate amount of power — enough to alter the social media landscape worldwide in general as to what is an acceptable use of words for discussions.
Although it has its place, this is one of the reasons why I despise and abhor social media.
If you have received a similarly ridiculous warning from an entity of social media, please submit it with some context behind it; and it will likely be highlighted in a future article here at The Gate.
