I saw a thunderstorm near Tanna Island in Vanuatu. While it was pouring copious amounts of precipitation out over the Pacific Ocean, it created an eerie scene in the sky — and the weather system was headed towards me.

Fortunately, I stood on the rim of the crater of an active volcano the day before; so I had no plans for that day. The air cooled off; but it was still very humid.

Trivia time: Cumulonimbus clouds can top as high as 70,000 feet and are capable of producing winds inside of it that are strong enough to break apart an airplane.
