Y ou might be asking yourself who was LeRoy Homer; and what is this LeRoy Homer Foundation of which there is a hangar party to support?
Jason Dahl was the captain of the Boeing 757-222 aircraft which operated as United Airlines flight 93 when it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania as a result of one of the terror attacks which occurred on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. LeRoy Homer was the first officer.
The Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund has been featured at The Gate since Friday, December 10, 2010 in numerous articles; and now it is the turn of the LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation — which also raises funds for scholarships to help young adults pursue aviation careers — to be featured here.
Although you may submit funds for a donation directly — and the donations are tax-deductible, of course — there is also a potentially fun way to support of the LeRoy Homer Foundation: attend the For The Love of Flight Hangar Party on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 6:00 in the evening Eastern Daylight Time in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Amongst what to expect if you attend will be live music, a silent auction, special aircraft, and a food truck. Additionally, six recipients of past scholarships are expected to attend. Tickets are $75.00 per person and $140.00 per couple.
