If you like a view, don’t stay on the seventh floor of this hotel property when staying in Las Vegas, as your view will be limited due to a design element that was incorporated into the building.
If You Like a View, Don’t Stay On the Seventh Floor of This Hotel Property.
The hotel property is the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, at which I had stayed in previous years.
As I was taking photographs inside of the room, I was wondering why the room seemed unusually dark as the sun emblazoned Las Vegas during the middle of the day.
I opened the curtains to see that the view was impeded by some design element that was incorporated into the structure of the building.
I am not sure as to whether this element had a structural function for the building or if it simply was solely a design element. The view of the top of the roof of the lower floors certainly did not add any value to this view.
The partially blocked view from the room was more than bad enough; but then a strange loud noise was heard every couple of minutes. The following sound file was recorded from the opposite side of the room from where the noise was emanating.
An engineer was called to the room to investigate the noise himself. He concluded that not only would the noise continue unabated throughout the day and night; but the sound came from a nearby elevator which needed to be placed out of service and fixed.
He agreed that that was unacceptable and apologized profusely. Fortunately, another room on a higher floor was available — and it was quieter and had a much better view.
Final Boarding Call
One look at the photographs of the exterior of the building obviously shows the seventh floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas by the continuous X design pattern that extends slightly outwards from the facade of the building.
If you are assigned to a room on the seventh floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas, try to move to a room on another floor if at all possible. Avoid the seventh floor here…
…unless you prefer a dark room with a limited view.
This is the same hotel property where you could accidentally pay $90.00 for a bottle of water if you are not careful…
