Sometimes you need an infusion of miles or points to your membership account for whatever reason — perhaps to have enough to redeem for a limited time award as one example — and the best time to purchase or gift miles or points is when they are on sale, as with this miles and points on sale for Friday, January 12 2024.

A sale may be a discount on the price required to purchase miles or points — or perhaps the frequent travel loyalty program from whom you are buying the miles or points will match your purchase up to 150 percent, which is another way of reducing the cost of miles or points.

The frequent travel loyalty programs which are featured in this latest edition of miles and points on sale are:

Choice Privileges: Up to 30 Percent Discount
You only have until Sunday, February 4, 2024 to take advantage of receiving a discount of up t0 30 percent on your purchase of Choice Privileges points with a minimum purchase of 4,000 Choice Privileges points in one transaction — and the maximum amount of points which you can purchase this year is 180,000 points — as follows:
- Purchase 4,000 to 7,000 Choice Privileges points = 15 percent discount
- Purchase 8,000 to 15,000 Choice Privileges points = 20 percent discount
- Purchase a minimum of 16,000 Choice Privileges points = 30 percent discount
American Airlines AAdvantage: Up to 35 Percent Discount
You can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 150,000 AAdvantage miles in order to receive a discount of up to 35 percent — for a cost of $3,668.44 for 150,000 miles — through the end of the day on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 as follows:
- Buy or gift 5,000 to 54,000 AAdvantage miles = 20 percent discount
- Buy or gift 55,000 to 149,000 AAdvantage miles = 25 percent discount
- Buy or gift 150,000 AAdvantage miles = 35 percent discount
Spirit Airlines Free Spirit: 80 Percent Bonus Points
You can purchase a minimum of 1,000 Spirit Airlines Free Spirit points through Monday, January 15, 2024 and receive a bonus of 80 percent on your purchase.
United Airlines MileagePlus: Up to 100 Percent Bonus Miles
Until the end of the day on Saturday, January 27, 2024, you can purchase or gift up to a maximum of 87,500 miles and receive a bonus of up to 90 percent as follows:
- Buy 5,000 to 24,000 MileagePlus miles = 30 percent bonus
- Buy 25,000 to 49,000 MileagePlus miles = 65 percent bonus
- Buy 50,000 to 100,000 MileagePlus miles = 100 percent bonus

Remember that each frequent travel loyalty program has partners through which you can redeem miles or points; so you are not confined just to the product offered by an airline or lodging company.
Also be sure to read the terms and conditions of each offer. Typically, all sales are final: once you have purchased your miles or points through these sales, you cannot return your points; and your money cannot be refunded.
