The change occurs on November 1, 2023.

“I made the decision to retire several months ago”, according to this discussion SanDiego1K posted on FlyerTalk. “I’ve worked closely with our moderator team as well as many active members on FlyerTalk. From the start, NWIFlyer was my first choice as my replacement. I’m glad that he said yes when asked. It’s not an easy task but he will be terrific in this role. He brings fresh enthusiasm and vision and will work hard to make FlyerTalk even better.”

On Saturday, January 1, 2011, Carol Hahn replaced Randy Petersen, who was the original community director of FlyerTalk — as well as the founder of the popular community bulletin board for frequent travelers. At one time, the idea of FlyerTalk without Randy Petersen leading it was unthinkable.

It was not an easy transition at first. Things did not always go as planned; and she has tackled some tough issues. However, SanDiego1K certainly strived to do whatever she could to ensure that the experience of using FlyerTalk was as beneficial, informative, valuable and fun for as many members as possible.

Final Boarding Call

Congratulations to NWIFlyer — or Rob, who is based in the United Kingdom — for assuming the role of community director of FlyerTalk. Also, may SanDiego1K enjoy her easing into retirement from the role.
