Orla in Las Vegas is a new Mediterranean concept inside of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas property. We were all tired after a long day of business and anticipated dining at this restaurant which recently opened. Fortunately, tables were available without waiting at the restaurant concept by Michael Mina, who is a celebrity chef. We had a reservation; and we were seated immediately.
Orla in Las Vegas. Restaurant Review.

Orla combines timeless flavors and textures of the Mediterranean region — primarily Greece and Egypt — with contemporary craft in this brand new restaurant by Michael Mina. The restaurant does not simply invite you — it beckons you to embark on a dining journey to the heart of the Mediterranean. Enjoy a mosaic of culinary experiences.

One area of the restaurant was reserved for large parties or groups in a semi-private setting.

The full service bar remains open every night long after the dining area of the restaurant closes.

We started off with an ORLA Spanakopita served tableside with bloomsdale spinach, leeks, and feta cheese. We all enjoyed this appetizer. $25.00

Next came the Smokey Baba Ganoush roasted eggplant with lemon roasted garlic, which was also polished off. $14.00.

My main course was the Mediterrenean Sea Bass, which was as the menu described it: mild and sweet yet firm but flaky; and it was ordered the Greek way with lemon, caper, oregano, and vinaigrette. A side of spinach and half of a roasted lemon accompanied the fish. $59.00

The ORLA Kina Salmon was described as “rich & buttery, tender” and was ordered the Egyptian way with lemon, tomato, cumin, and vinaigrette — and it was delicious. $48.00

Then came the presentation at tableside with the Salt-Baked Sea Bream.

The server removed the fish from the baked salt that surrounded it; and he filleted the fish and removed its skin.

After the presentation at tableside, the Salt-Raked Sea Bream was served with sliced zucchini and an oregano vinaigrette. $75.00

I ordered a dessert to bring back to the room. It was enclosed in a box with a round sticker and the name ORLA on it.

The Baharat Chocolate Torte was comprised of a dark chocolate tart, milk chocolate, Luxardo cherries, and whipped cream. The sourness of the cherries elevated the flavor of this decadent dessert. $17.00
Final Boarding Call
Except for a beer for one of our party, we did not order any alcoholic beverages, as none of us were interested in them.
Consider that because Orla is “Located just a stone’s throw from the casino floor and Convention Center at Mandalay Bay”, expect a somewhat noisy dining experience. The service from members of the staff was very good. Although the food was very good overall and I do recommend dining here, the prices suggest that Orla in general is somewhat overrated.
Reservations are highly recommended when dining at Orla — especially when a large convention is in town.
