Redeem 5,000 Hilton Honors Points Per Night At Only One Hotel Property in the World?

Hint: that one hotel property is not in the United States.

Back in June of 2019, a relatively new tool called Points Explorer could be used to find 23 hotel and resort properties worldwide at which you could redeem as few as five thousand Hilton Honors points per night — but as of the time this article was written, you can redeem 5,000 Hilton Honors points per night at only one hotel property in the world.

The hotel property in question is the Hampton by Hilton Yopal in Colombia.

Set the slider in the current version of Point Explorer and type in South America in the Choose a location field.

Despite the question of where do you want to go being “optional”, the results do require something to be entered — otherwise, it defaults to a location; and most likely that location is the United States.

The result shows only one hotel property: the Hampton by Hilton Yopal. Entering Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, and Australia and New Zealand yields no results for hotel properties at which only 5,000 Hilton Honors points can be redeemed for one night.

The Points Explorer tool used to be incredibly easy to use where one can find the lowest redemption values of Hilton Honors points in the world. Now, a region, city, state, country, or other destination must be entered — although you can use continents such as Europe and North America for your search. It also was a great way to find hotel and resort properties which had lower cash rates as well.

This article which I wrote delves into more detail about the Points Explorer tool back on Sunday, March 17, 2019 — not long after it was first introduced.

In the meantime, the aforementioned redemption rate was in effect as of the time this article was written, as the dreaded asterisk appears at the bottom with the following verbiage — which means that it can still probably change at any time:

*Points are based on current availability over the next 30 days and are subject to change. Please enter exact dates for specific points and availability.

Please feel free to double check and see if you can find any other hotel properties worldwide which require as few as 5,000 Hilton Honors points to be redeemed for a stay of one night, as I may have missed something…
