If you exceed the number of nights needed in order to maintain elite level status in the Choice Privileges Rewards frequent guest loyalty program, those extra nights will now count toward the next year so you can get a head start on maintaining or upgrading your elite level status with the new Rollover Nights benefit effective as of Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Rollover Nights Announced for Choice Privileges Rewards as a New Benefit
How many nights you can roll over to next year depends on the elite level status you currently hold:
If you earn Platinum elite level status by staying between 20 and 39 nights during a year, any of those nights in excess of 20 will be rolled over to the following year — so if you stay 39 nights in one year, 19 of those nights will roll over to the next year, which means that you would only need to stay one single night during the following year in order to qualify once again for Platinum elite level status.

Summary
The good news is that any additional nights which are earned in excess of any elite level status during the year 2019 will be rolled over in 2020 and count towards qualification for elite level status in 2021.
Rollover nights are a nice new benefit to be added to the Choice Privileges frequent guest loyalty program and will help members achieve elite lever status easier, faster and less expensive…
…but if you earn Diamond elite level status, you may only roll over up to a maximum of 39 nights towards the next year — meaning that you cannot stay 120 nights in one year and rollover 80 of them to the following two years to automatically qualify once again for Diamond elite level status for the next two years. That is probably the most significant negative aspect to the new Rollover Nights benefit; and I think that the maximum limit should be removed for someone who stays so many nights within a year, as that would be a potential incentive to keep members loyal and not stray to competing lodging companies, in my opinion.
