The next president of the United States chose Sean Duffy to become the new secretary of transportation in the United States, replacing Pete Buttigieg for the role.
Sean Duffy to Become New Secretary of Transportation in the United States
Donald J. Trump said that the former representative of the state of Wisconsin would use his experience and relationships built over the years in Congress “to maintain and rebuild our Nation’s Infrastructure, and fulfill our Mission of ushering in The Golden Age of Travel, focusing on Safety, Efficiency, and Innovation. Importantly, he will greatly elevate the Travel Experience for all Americans!”
Duffy is currently the co-host of Bottom Line on the Fox Business channel. He was a special prosecutor and the district attorney for Ashland County before he was elected to become a member of the House of Representatives of the United States in 2010, where he served for nine years.
Final Boarding Call
I am not sure whether Sean Duffy is fully qualified for the role of secretary of transportation of the United States — but I would not be surprised if he rolled back some of the protections for consumers that were implemented during the tenure of Pete Buttigieg. One example is the new final airline fee transparency rule, which was blocked temporarily by the Fifth United States Circuit Court of Appeals in Louisiana on Monday, July 29, 2024 pending a complete review of the regulation, citing that the rule “likely exceeds DOT’s authority and will irreparably harm airlines”.
My reaction is mixed, as I am against the federal government implementing too much regulation and interfering in the free market — but I also believe that transportation companies should be transparent to consumers in how they conduct business…
