The Sheraton Iguazú Resort & Spa will be leaving Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide on Friday, September 29, 2017. Reservations for dates on or after Saturday, September 30, 2017, will not be eligible for the benefits of membership in the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program — nor for award redemption or accrual of Starpoints.
Sheraton Iguazú Resort & Spa is Leaving Starwood
“Looks like the new owner intends to renovate it and convert it to a Four Seasons”, according to content which was posted by FlyerTalk member James Luckard — along with this link to the source of that information, which reports that Albwardy Investments paid $55 million for the resort property.
The resort property is already listed at the official Internet web site of the holding company, which is based in the United Arab Emirates and currently owns the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires property, which celebrated 15 years in Argentina this month.
In addition to the resort property, the possibility exists of an investment to build luxury villas on 600 hectares of the property.
Summary
As the Sheraton Iguazú Resort & Spa is the only hotel property located within Cataratas National Park, it is a convenient lodging option through which you could earn or redeem Starpoints…
…but if it indeed does become a Four Seasons resort property, it will most likely undergo a significant renovation — and expect to pay significantly more money to stay there.
If you want to experience staying at this resort property either using or earning Starpoints — or paying what may now be considered a relatively reasonable rate — book your reservations to stay prior to Friday, September 29, 2017.
I stayed at this resort property years ago; and I may post a retro trip report pertaining to it in a future article.
