Small towns and villages dot the bucolic setting of the rural countryside along two-lane roads on relatively flat land between Strasbourg and Colmar — which is the birthplace of Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, who is the sculptor who designed the Statue of Liberty — in the Alsace region of northeastern France near the German border…

…and one common element which is featured in all of the photographs that are included in this article is that situated in the distance on one of the taller peaks in the Vosges mountain range is the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg, which I visited — but I have not yet written about my experience there.
Final Boarding Call
Although exactly when the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg was built and completed is unknown, references to it have purportedly been cited as early as the year 1147 — and greater than 875 years after its construction, a few more years since I visited is like the proverbial drop in the bucket and should not matter all that much when I finally write an article which pertains to my experience there.
