While walking along a lane on the way back to the cabin from breakfast after petting sheep, we witnessed the later part of a sunrise in the Laplands of Finland, which was eerily dark and cast some interesting shadows on that cold Arctic morning.

As this photograph was taken in the middle of autumn, the sun was not going to rise much further into the Arctic sky. Rather, it would skirt above the horizon from east to west before setting sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. It was a continuation of sorts of seeing celestial phenomena after witnessing the northern lights the night before.

The landscape looks strikingly different because of the position of the sun in the sky, which creates opportunities for some unusual photographs.
