I had the opportunity to stay overnight at a hotel property that was located in the Accursed Mountains in Kosovo. Despite the name, the Accursed Mountains were actually picturesque and a safe place to visit instead of a forbidden wilderness. The mountain range is also known as Bjeshkët e Namuna or the Albanian Alps, which also are in Montenegro and Albania.

Although several stories abound of how the mountain range earned its name, one local legend claims that the devil took only 24 hours — but put in a full day’s work — to create the Accursed Mountains. He would have used his pointy tail to carve out deep ravines; and he would have used his evil little claws to sculpt spires of rock.
Long after his nefarious work was completed, the curse remained, as this mountain range has always been synonymous with pillagers, enmities, schisms, bloody conflicts, inclement weather, avalanches, and other miscellaneous misfortunes for anyone who was foolish enough to visit.

I was not only “foolish” enough to visit the Accursed Mountains; but I also stayed overnight there. Enough said.
