“If you’re sitting at EWR, IAH, SFO, ORD, IAD, BOS, or any other UA domestic airport waiting to take off, this is a great Website to track your crawl to the runway!” is what FlyerTalk member wxguy posted.
Track Air and Ground Traffic in Real Time at 37 Airports
The Internet web site to which is referring is called Mosaic ATM Airport Viewer. Simply choose one of the 37 airports in the United States with which air and ground traffic can be tracked…
…and view the traffic of airplanes on the ground and in the air in real time.
As an example, I chose the international airport which serves the greater Atlanta metropolitan area…
…and you get the current traffic on the ground and in the air in real time.
You can either zoom in for a closer view…
…or zoom out for a greater overall aerial view.
Zoom out too much and you can view the obviously limited area of the airplane traffic in real time.
You can also zoom in too close as well — in this case, on the airplane which operates as JetBlue Airways flight 404, which was taxiing at the airport between Concourse D and Concourse E.
Summary
This is a cool tool with which you can track airplanes in real time within the immediate vicinity of 37 airports; and it can especially be useful during times when a flight is delayed and the airplane is either circling the airport or is on the ground but either not yet at the gate or has not yet departed.
If you want to track flights in real time which are beyond the immediate vicinity of the airport, consider using a tool such as FlightAware.
