What Is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 147

Was I blind as to what was going on?

The annual registration of my motor vehicle had to be renewed; so as I stood on a short line at the local motor vehicle department, I turned around and noticed something which I thought appeared bizarre at first glance — and, perhaps, a possible reason why there was a line in the first place.

    1. The middle window is not completely closed. It’s open enough to pass a pizza box through. The open signs are weird though and their location is not inside the office where the staff are.

Strange is that the right window has taped notices but they are easily seen only when the window is shut.

  1. The “Open” signs appear permanent; i.e., they don’t appear to be able to change to “Closed.” Apparently, they are only really “Open” when the person behind them decides to draw the blinds. What I can’t figure out is why permanent “Open” signs ever would have been installed in the first place.

  2. I see 2 problems. One as most readers point out, they all say open when they are all closed. I think the “open” has the ability to be illuminated when actually open, which compared to closed windows would create contrast. The other issue is that even when open, there is no obvious way to communicate or exchange documents through the glass window.
