What Is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 298

This breakfast could have been a Crowne-ing achievement — but...

For this edition of this popular game, can you guess what you believe is wrong — or, at least, seemingly quite bizarre — with this screen shot part 298?

While researching hotel properties that are located next to the international airport that serves the greater Sydney metropolitan area in Australia, I perused through the gallery of photographs at the official Internet web site of Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport — and what I found is still there at the time this article was written if you want to see for yourself what is wrong.

Answer to What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 297: Reader Edition

While at a fast food restaurant in southwestern Florida, Fake Points Travel Blogger — who is a reader of The Gate With Brian Cohen — took a photograph and sent it to my attention with the message “spotted this in SWFL for you:” a crude paper sign with the “words” USE KIAOS all in capital letters.

Perhaps kiosk was supposed to be the intended word? That seems like too much chaos in this situation.

Favorite answer by derek: “This person obviously does not know how to speel. The correct speeling of the dealer’s name is ‘Kia of Sarasota’ in Florida, but not knowing how to spell ‘Sarasota’, the cashier wrote to ask customers to see ‘Kia o s’.

“Alternatively, one may use the kiosk. Maybe the cashier has to leave early to order to find the airline kiosk (maybe Delta Airlines kiosk) at the airport, searching in vain for the kiaos sign?”

Favorite comment by Jim F.: “Well…if this picture had been taken at a South Korean car dealership’s service center for onboard diagnostics, it might make some sense — advising customers to use the Kia OS (operating system). In any event, customers would be well advised to use the kiaos (ahem, ‘kiosk’) at this fast food restaurant because I wouldn’t trust the workers to be able to write down an order correctly. Appalling!”

  1. What is wrong is that they are creating envy of what is not offered! Looking at the website, the room service menu is extensive but croissants or strawberries or orange juice shown in the photo are not on the menu. Maybe they can justify it because they are the Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport, not the non-existent Holiday Inn Sydney Airport.

Though not an error in the photo, the hotel offers a shuttle to the airport, a mere 2000 ft. from the domestic terminal and about 300 ft. from the edge of airport property. However, they charge $12 per person! That should make Americans happy with the many free airport hotel shuttles in the United States.
