What Is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 302

Do not stare at this photograph — just in case...

For this edition of this popular game, can you guess what you believe is wrong — or, at least, seemingly quite bizarre — with this photograph part 302?

During a recent business trip while staying at the W Los Angeles – West Beverly Hills hotel property in California, Matthew Cohen took a photograph of a sign and asked me “What is wrong with this photograph?”

Answer to What is Wrong With This Photograph? Part 301

Apparently, something was wrong with the front “page” of BoardingArea when I went to see what new articles had been published, as the title of one item overlapped into the title of the other one. I have no idea how that happened.

I also want to point out that no article in the series of What Is Wrong With This Photograph articles is meant to bash, demean, or otherwise cast a negative light on each subject. Everyone makes mistakes; and this series is quasi-travel related content for people to take a break of levity from what is going on in the world. People are welcome to poke fun at my mistakes as well. Regardless, the following responses were not replicated here in their entirety — even though the original comments themselves were never moderated or edited by me — due to what some people may consider to be controversial in nature.

Favorite answer by derek: “There are several things wrong. One is an overprint which obscures ‘62 degree Hilton Garden Inn’ in View from the Wing and ‘Airplane Art – easyJet Switzerland Airbus A320 at Hamburg Airport’ in Economy Class & Beyond.”

Favorite comment by Jim F.: “Respectfully, ‘What is wrong with this photograph?’ is intended (I believe) as a weekly, light-hearted feature poking fun at misspellings, odd signage, and other miscues that cause viewers to ask, ‘What were they thinking?’”

  1. First, the positive, what is right with this photo. The fire is so intense that it has burnt the top of the stairs in the photo, it seems!

What’s wrong is the speeling and the corrected spelling. The correct word is “stairway”, not “staiway” or “starway”. The starway is presumably on the roof, where people look at stars but you can see the fire has burned the top of the stairs!

Also possibly wrong is the braille translation. It’s almost right but the first letter is chipped and the translation is not exact word per word, but close.

Curious, where is DEI? There is no woman on the sign. Have they run first or did the man push his way and left them behind?

  2. Derek always seems to beat me to the punch with his witty replies. “Inquiring minds want to know…” (with regard to this week’s picture): (1) was there ever an “R” in the void between the “I” and “W” that dropped off the sign somehow and (2) what was the intent of the person who tried to turn the “I” into an “R” — if the intent was truly to make the word “starway,” the figure on the steps is going the wrong direction (stars are usually up, not down).
