I regularly receive promotional e-mail messages from the IHG One Rewards membership program — as I am a member — and the one that is featured in this article is no exception…
…but as I have received them for years, should they not know my name by now? I guess I need to change the name of this weblog to The Gate With %%=propercase(@firstname)=%% Cohen in honor of my new current first name.
Favorite answer by derek: “It seems that the subject line didn’t appear as intended. The coding language is seen but it should have read ‘Brian, refer friends and earn up to 50k bonus points per year’. At least it didn’t show some sarcastic title only intended for company employees to see, such as ‘RE: [Insert first name of DYKWIA type customer who probably has a Fat Head and Overinflated View of Self and is worth zero to us], Welcome to IHG brands of hotels’.”
