Where Can You Find the Lowest Prices For Gasoline — and In Which States Is It Fewer Than $1.80 Per Gallon?

A s of the time this article has been posted, additional states have joined Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Indiana — on which I reported in this article posted on Friday, December 12, 2014 — where fuel stations are selling gasoline at fewer than $2.00 per gallon…

…but which states are these; and where are those fuel stations located — especially the ones with the lowest prices for gasoline in the United States, as no fewer than seven states host fuel stations whose prices are fewer than $1.80 per gallon?

Here is a list of the growing number of states — according to GasBuddy.com — where fuel stations selling gasoline at fewer than $2.00 per gallon are located:

  • Georgia will be on your mind with gasoline prices as low as $1.91 in Ringgold, which is near the Tennessee border — and I hope they filter down to the Atlanta area soon, which at one time years ago had the lowest gasoline prices in the United States
  • Washington Five fuel stations in Cle Elum and Wapato barely broke the $2.00 per gallon barrier — starting at $1.93 per gallon
  • Mississippi Good news if you are driving in Meridian or Fulton: gasoline is sold for as low as $1.92 per gallon, where people do not Mississippi those gasoline prices greater than $2.00 per gallon
  • Alabama Two fuel stations in Fort McClellan — located just outside of Anniston and approximately 90 miles west of Atlanta and 75 miles east of Birmingham — sell gasoline for $1.87 per gallon
  • Kansas Toto, carry on your wayward son and head to Salina if you want to pay the lowest price in the state at $1.88 per gallon
  • Michigan No fewer than nine fuel stations in Grand Haven and Spring Lake sell gasoline for as low as $1.88 per Michi-gallon
  • New Mexico Las Cruces is crucial to find two fuel stations selling gasoline for $1.87 per gallon
  • South Carolina is on my mind: Easley is where you will easily find two fuel stations selling gasoline for $1.91 per gallon
  • South Dakota proves that South Carolina is not the only state where gasoline prices are headed south: SUX may be the airport code for Sioux Falls — but that airport code does not apply to the $1.94 per gallon gasoline price found at four different fuel stations there
  • Tennessee the gasoline prices falling: from Memphis to Chattanooga, gasoline prices are as low as $1.91 per gallon
  • Arkansas what Tennessee: One warehouse club is selling gasoline for $1.88 per gallon in Fort Smith
  • Kentucky Your wallet will not be Kentucky fried at one warehouse club, which is selling gasoline for $1.90 per gallon in Louisville
  • Iowa the oil company less money, thanks to the $1.89 price per gallon of gasoline at three fuel stations in Olds, Mount Pleasant and Dubuque
  • Virginia is for lovers of gasoline prices fewer than $2.00 per gallon, with $1.93 per gallon at a fuel station in Salem being the lowest in the state
  • Arizona may not be the Phoenix of low gasoline prices; but that is where the lowest gasoline prices in the state are currently found — starting at $1.95 per gallon
  • New Jersey Three fuel stations near the Jersey Shore — two in Lakewood and one in Brick — barely broke the $2.00 per gallon barrier at $1.99 per gallon; but hopefully additional fuel stations will each be another Brick in the Wall Township in this state which once had the lowest gasoline prices in the United States
  • Illinois There is no need to get ill and annoyed, as fuel stations are finally breaking the $2.00 per gallon barrier — as low as $1.97 at two fuel stations in Jacksonville
  • Utah Five fuel stations in Salt Lake City, Murray and West Valley City barely broke the $2.00 per gallon barrier at $1.99 and $1.98 per gallon
  • Ohio $1.80 gets you a gallon of gasoline at a supermarket in Fairfield
  • Idaho how Plummer is where gasoline prices are plummeting to as low as $1.80 per gallon

States With Fuel Stations Selling Gasoline at Prices Lower Than $1.80 Per Gallon

  • Indiana wants me; and I might go back there: one fuel station in Lafayette sells gasoline at $1.78 per gallon
  • Texas Although one fuel station sells gasoline for $1.75 per gallon in Fort Worth, you can also find gasoline for fewer than $2.00 per gallon in such cities as Wichita Falls and Dallas — fort what it is worth
  • Louisiana Three fuel stations in Baton Rouge are tied at $1.75 per gallon; but to purchase gasoline at those prices, you may need to join a warehouse club first
  • Oklahoma You can find at least three fuel stations selling gasoline for as low as $1.75 in Oklahoma City, with one fuel station selling it for as low as $1.74 per gallon — which is the fourth lowest gasoline price in the United States
  • Nebraska Chadron is where you will find gasoline for as low as $1.70 per gallon — which is the third lowest gasoline price in the United States
  • Missouri loves company; but not when it comes to falling fuel prices: many fuel stations in the Kansas City area now sell gasoline at fewer than $2.00 per gallon, with the lowest price at $1.88 per gallon; and one fuel station in Springfield is selling gasoline at $1.69 per gallon — which is the second lowest gasoline price in the United States
  • Colorado The state where Randy Petersen and BoardingArea are based has stepped into the game in a major way, with gasoline prices as low as $1.68 per gallon in Fort Collins and Timnath — currently the lowest in the United States — and yes, I know that is a major schlep north from Colorado Springs, Randy

Click on the names of the 27 states — greater than half of the states in the United States — in the list above for the exact location of the fuel stations which sell gasoline at fewer than $2.00 per gallon.

If you are in Hawaii, the price of gasoline per gallon still has not lowered below the $3.00 per gallon threshold, as the lowest price recorded is $3.31 per gallon at two fuel stations in Mililani Town — located approximately 17 miles northwest of Honolulu in the center of the island of Oahu — and one fuel station in Kapahulu.
