Winter Weather Affecting Central Plains and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the United States: February 2025 Travel Alert
The following statement is currently posted at the official Internet web site of the National Weather Service of the United States:
Cold Temperatures Across the Northern High Plains; Winter Storms to Impact the Central Plains and Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday.
Arctic high pressure will usher in well below normal temperatures across the northern High Plains. Lake effect snow will drop up to a foot of snow downwind of Lake Ontario today. Two winter storms will begin to bring snow and a wintry mix to the Central Plains and the Mid-Atlantic by mid-day Tuesday. Heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding in the Mid-South on Tuesday.
The map of the United States from the National Weather Service currently indicates winter storm warnings, winter storm watches, and winter weather advisories from northeastern Colorado all the way to southern New Jersey and northern New York; and south to northern Texas and western North Carolina. Additionally, flood watches have been issued for extreme eastern Texas, northern Louisiana, extreme southwestern Arkansas, southern Kentucky, eastern Tennessee, and northwestern Georgia.
The aforementioned loop shows that snowfall will be likely to occur through Thursday, February 13, 2025 from western Colorado all the way to northern Michigan and northern New York. Significant amounts of rain are likely from northern Texas all the way to southern New Jersey. Ice is possible from northern Texas to southern New York.
As much as 14 inches of snow could accumulate in local areas from eastern West Virginia to Delaware.
