When Hilton unveiled a concept called Connected Room on Thursday, December 7, 2017, it unveiled a list of benefits with which you can personalize and control virtually every aspect of your stay from your portable electronic device — such as controlling the temperature, lighting, television and window coverings in your room; as well as personalizing your hotel room with technology which loads the most popular streaming media and other accounts to the television in the room by using the official mobile software application program of Hilton on your portable electronic device…
Your Portable Electronic Device Becomes a Remote Control at Hilton Hotel Properties
…and additional innovations are being added to the technology — including using your portable electronic device as a remote control to access streamed entertainment. This includes unprecedented complimentary access to Showtime on demand in what is being called the first-ever collaboration of its type between a major lodging company and a premium entertainment provider. Included programming from its vast library are entire seasons of original series on Showtime; as well as box-office hit movies, comedy specials, documentaries, and hard-hitting sports — all without requiring credentials or a subscription to gain access to this content.
The existing Digital Key technology — which was introduced in August of 2015 and is available free of charge — already gives you the capability to select your room, check in to your room, and open the door to the room without a physical key. It is now available at greater than 3,000 Hilton hotel and resort properties; and it is used to open in excess of 22 million room doors to date.
If you prefer not to use the mobile software application program, you will still be able to enjoy the benefits of Connected Room because Hilton has simplified the television remote control and built room controls into the television inside of the hotel room.
Summary
The value of being a guest in a room at a participating hotel or resort property equipped with Connected Room technology within the brand portfolio of Hilton just increased if you enjoy watching the programming of a premium service such as Showtime — and the technology will become available at thousands of hotel rooms across multiple brands in the United States this year.
