In the constant and continuous effort to streamline boarding of passengers aboard airplanes, zone number boarding to return in May 2024 to Delta Air Lines is intended to ease the process for passengers who travel infrequently — as well as passengers who do not speak English and only need to listen for a number to know when it is their turn to board the airplane.
Zone Number Boarding to Return in May 2024 to Delta Air Lines
The following chart was released recently from Delta Air Lines.
The boarding process will only affect passengers who qualify for the first two zones, as the boarding of passengers from Zone 3 to Zone 8 remains unchanged.
Delta Air Lines first introduced the current branded boarding process when it abandoned boarding by zone number in 2018.
In addition to easing the process for certain passengers, numbered zones will align more closely with the joint venture partners and international partners of Delta Air Lines, which will purportedly provide international customers a more simplified and consistent experience when traveling on itineraries with different types of airplanes.
Final Boarding Call
If the zone number boarding process will ease the boarding of passengers aboard airplanes and improve alignment with partners, then why did Delta Air Lines abandon it in 2018? Six boarding zones were used back then versus the current eight boarding zones.
