T here are two current news stories related to travel which are considered either extraordinary or bizarre: a married father of two children who moonlighted as an Uber driver is accused of a shooting rampage in Kalamazoo which occurred on the evening of Saturday, February 20, 2016 that left six people dead and two others wounded; while a person strips naked at an airport terminal — and there are photographs of this unfortunate episode.
Uber Driver Accused of Murder Spree While Working
No one knows as of yet what set off the deadly shooting spree of which Jason Brian Dalton — who is 45 years old — is accused of doing, which is pick up riders, take fares, and drop them off between the shootings of random victims which occurred during a period of nearly five hours, according to this article from WOOD-TV Channel 8 News.
Other than being cited for speeding several times, Dalton supposedly had no criminal history before the shooting spree.
In this subsequent article from the same television station — which serves the Michigan cities of Kalamazoo, Holland and Grand Rapids — Dalton allegedly confessed to police that he “took people’s lives” but has not shown any remorse; and that he “would prefer to just remain silent.”
Police reportedly do not believe that Dalton was finished killing random people, as he was allegedly “armed with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and had more ammunition on him when he was arrested around 12:40 a.m. during a traffic stop in Kalamazoo.”
Naked Person Walks Around Airport Terminal
Eric Brian Cherry evidently had no plans to board a flight at Nashville International Airport when he allegedly stripped off all of his clothes in a parking lot near the terminal and became completely naked before “nonchalantly” walking toward the express lane of the airport late in the afternoon on Sunday, February 21, 2016, according to this article written by Nicole Hensley of the New York Daily News.
“I turned my head and I saw some creamy white thighs and ankles,” witness Tod Brilliant — who was one of the unfazed travelers near the baggage claim who spied his antics, which occurred for a duration of only a couple of minutes or so — reportedly told the New York Daily News. “And I said, ‘That’s a naked man.’”
Initially interpreting the frolicking by the man as a protest against the Transportation Security Administration, Brilliant claimed to have tapped the naked man on the shoulder and complimented him for his bold strut: “You are amazing.” The man turned his head to Brilliant and responded: “Thanks.”
Brilliant posted photographs — warning: they show the man completely naked; and I really do not believe you want to see these uncensored photographs — at his Facebook social media account of the nude man, who is 53 years of age and was seen walking around the terminal as well as standing in line at at an American Airlines counter.
This is supposedly not the first time that Cherry — who is believed to have “a history of mental health issues,” according to the aforementioned article — has walked around airport property naked. He has allegedly parked his vehicle in the economy parking lot several times in the past and walked around; but this time, he parked his car significantly closer and successfully walked into the airport terminal for the first time.
Cherry was taken into custody by airport police and charged with public indecency prior to being booked by law enforcement officers of the Metro Nashville Police Department. His clothes were returned to him as he was booked into a jail in Nashville. He was eventually charged with six counts of murder; two counts of assault with intent to commit murder; and eight charges of using a firearm during the commission of a felony.
As a side note, at least one passenger has protested in the past against the Transportation Security Administration at Nashville International Airport — although she did not strip naked. Andrea Abbott was arrested at the airport in 2011 after viewing what she believed to be the inappropriate touching of her daughter — who was 14 years of age at the time — of the genital area by a Transportation Security Administration. Abbott was found guilty of disorderly conduct in October of 2012 and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days of probation.
Summary
Please pardon me; but I have not written a summary for this article, as I am still a little nauseous from the “creamy white thighs and ankle” comment…
