Outdoor swimming pools can add to an experience at a hotel or resort property — especially one that is located in a tropical region or in a desert locale — but they often open as late as 8:00 in the morning and close as early as 6:00 in the evening. Although swimming pools at some hotel and resort properties may operate as long as 24 hours per day and seven days per week, at least 9 reasons why swimming pools open later and close earlier at hotel properties give some insight as to why guests cannot enjoy a swim late at night or early in the morning.
9 Reasons Why Swimming Pools Open Later and Close Earlier At Hotel Properties
9 reasons as to why swimming pools at hotel and resort properties are not open late in the evening or early in the morning include but are not limited to:
- Local laws and ordinances which may prohibit the operation of swimming pools at certain hours
- Insurance and liability may either prevent the swimming pool from being open for extended hours — or insurance premiums may cost more during certain hours that the swimming pool is operational
- Lighting and other safety devices may not be adequate enough for swimming at night
- Less time to have hired staff tend to operating and maintaining the swimming pool — especially at night, when fewer employees of the hotel or resort property are working
- Too many chemicals in the swimming pool while it is being cleaned and drained poses a potential danger to swimmers
- Noise from the operation of the motors of filtration systems of swimming pools — as well as some raucous swimmers themselves — may be disturbing to guests who want to sleep during late evening hours or early morning hours
- Fewer hours to pay lifeguards to be on duty in case of an emergency
- Reducing the risks of children, inebriated guests, and other vulnerable people from being injured and suffering due to accidents in or near the swimming pool
- One fewer distraction for guests to instead choose a venue for nightlife which may be on the hotel or resort property — especially at properties which have casinos
In addition to closing swimming pools early in the evening, many hotel and resort properties also do not open their swimming pools until as late as 8:00 in the morning.
Final Boarding Call
I am not a person who spends a lot of time in swimming pools. However, I enjoy being in a swimming pool at night because it is less crowded — with fewer chances of the swimming pool containing as much as 20 gallons of urine in it — and the risk of my skin being burnt by the hot sun is reduced. Being in a swimming pool in the evening is calming for me. When I am in a swimming pool in the evening, I can stay in it for hours — which is why I prefer when swimming pools at hotel and resort properties are open late into the evening; and the later, the better.
Hotel and resort properties do exist where the swimming pools are open for extended hours — or never close altogether. Unfortunately, the best and most reliable way to find out about the hours that a swimming pool is open is to contact the hotel or resort property directly.
If you want to be in a swimming pool while watching airplanes either land or depart, consider staying at this hotel property…
