Summary
People who either buy Priority Pass memberships or get access to member airport lounges via their credit cards will be affected the most by this situation — as well as holders of World Mastercard and World Elite Mastercard as their Mastercard Airport Experiences are provided by LoungeKey, which is owned by Collinson Group, which also owns Priority Pass, which means that similar credit cards will lose access to these lounges. One consolation is that the aforementioned cardholders will still have access via their Priority Pass membership to the various restaurant options with which the program has partnerships.
The removal of 57 airport lounges may seem like a somewhat significant hit to the Priority Pass network — especially in Canada, Malaysia, Taipei, and London, which comprise of 31 of the 57 airport lounges…
…but when considering that Plaza Premium has greater that 120 airport lounges and fewer than half of them are leaving the Priority Pass and LoungeKey networks — and that the Priority Pass network itself comprises of greater than 1,300 airport lounges — the issue could have been significantly worse.
