Airlines issue travel waivers for Washington National Airport closure tomorrow, Saturday, June 14 2025 due to a special event that is scheduled to occur both on the 250th anniversary of the Army of the United States and on the 79th birthday of Donald J. Trump, who is the current president of the United States.
Airlines Issue Travel Waivers For Washington National Airport Closure: June 2025 Travel Alert
According to the official Internet web site of Washington National Airport as copied verbatim:
A military parade in Washington, D.C., may significantly impact vehicle and airline traffic on the evening of Saturday, June 14.
Airline Flight Impacts
To accommodate aircraft flyovers along the parade route, followed by a fireworks display, the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to suspend airline operations at DCA — affecting scheduled flights. Customers with flight reservations for the evening of June 14 should check the status of their flights directly with their airline.
Expect Traffic Delays
Consider using Metrorail to reach the airport, and expect roadway closures off-airport that could increase travel times from Friday, June 13, through Monday, June 16.
Highway Closure Notice
From Friday, June 13 at 6:00 p.m. through Sunday, June 15 at 6:00 a.m., the George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed in both directions between U.S. 50 and I-395.
No Fireworks Viewing
With limited garage parking capacity at DCA due to construction, event parking and fireworks viewing at the airport are strongly discouraged. Expect delays from road closures and increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area.
